SAART for Kids 8-12
Instill in them, good safety and security habits while they are young. Tens of thousands new children go missing each year. 1 in 5 children fall victim to inappropriate touching. In 86% of those cases, the predator is known to the child. Think it won’t happen to your child? This naïve and irresponsible thinking is exactly what the predator who has taken an interest in your child is counting on. They are very, very patient. Children go missing from the seemingly impenetrable safety of their own bed at night and even in the middle of the day. The fact is, you cannot be everywhere at all times. You must instill in your children a healthy sense of skepticism. You don’t need to teach your kids to be paranoid or cynical, but they must be taught to deal with strangers appropriately. Would your child fall for the “help me find my puppy” story? ECOPSS has developed a simple 10 step program to separate themselves from the trickery of those who mean them harm. (Back to Top)
SAART for Teens
SAART for Teens, (situational awareness & appropriate response training) is a personal safety and security workshop for teens and their families (or friends). Teens must be taught (not told) how to be confident in taking personal responsibility for themselves; as they matriculate into, maneuver and navigate through today’s ever changing and challenging world. The current world political, economic, crime and terrorism climate has made growing up in a global society more complex and certainly more dangerous. Your young adult deserves the same information, training, personal safety and security skills as taught to government operatives and their families, but little known to average American citizens. SAART teaches your teen to..consider the risks..recognize the signs..take decisive action .. and avoid irrecoverable disasters. Let us help you teach them what they need to know … before fun turns fatal.(Back to Top)

SAART for Teens (AR)
SAART for Teens (At Risk) program was designed to reduce juvenile delinquency and the recidivism rate of incarcerated youth. SAART (situational awareness & appropriate response training) for Teens AR (at risk) is an adaptation of SAART for Teens. The AR program takes into consideration and addresses socio-legal implications of juvenile delinquency and the order of the Court. SAART for College/ University Students
Post secondary school years are said to be the best years of a student’s life… and so it should be. Schools keep closely held, statistics of violent and property crimes perpetrated against their students. Whenever possible, Campus Police are called in to handle school crimes, which do not become public record for perusal by reporters or other interested parties such as prospective applicants. ECOPSS students’ programs focus on reality based scenario training for males and females. This is a must for upcoming freshmen, spring breakers and senior trip planning. (Back to Top)
SAART for Exchange / Students Abroad
(Survivor: Jenee Klotz was sexually assaulted and stabbed while on a study-abroad program in Jamaica during her junior year./ AJ Mast for USA TODAY)
Students studying abroad face dangers with little or no oversight. No government or school agency oversees (nor keeps records/statistics of) the personal safety and security circumstances of students who study abroad. Prior to their departure, Federal employees and Sr. company executives working abroad attend classes pertaining to the maintenance of their personal safety by the United States Department of State, or their employer of what to look out for, how to conduct themselves; etc, prior to their departure. Not so with students who study abroad. Students and their families are responsible for researching the program they are using, the country they are visiting and what crimes are most prevalent in the area of their prospective residence. Students interviewed by ECOPSS staff, had little knowledge of what questions to ask or how to begin such an investigation.
The study abroad community of professionals must shoulder responsibility for reducing risks for students studying outside the country. Some travel risks are unknowable; others can be controlled at least prepare for. No one can predict a terrorist attack, tsunami or train crashes. But with accurate information, students can avoid dangerous roads, know prescription drugs used at home that are illegal in host countries and skirt certain areas of a country or city susceptible to violence, sexual harassment and crimes.
Students and their parents making a first time study abroad decision need information to make many safety related decisions. But where do they get this. It does exist. See www.globaled.us/safeti and www.travel.state.gov/travel. We believe that the community of study abroad programs and their association, NAFSA (formerly known as the National Assn of Foreign Student Advisers) have the responsibility to centralize and broadly promote information sources and tips that serve to minimize risk as our students prepare for, undertake and return from study abroad experiences.
As a security specialist I frequently speak with families excited about the prospect of studying abroad. When asked “what are you doing to ensure your safety while you are away”, most often I get blank stares or even worse, a naïvely dangerous discounting of the possibility of disaster. Overcome with excitement they rarely if ever think of safety issues. ECOPSS is in the process of developing and widely distributing sound safety tips so students return home with the same wondrous smile with which they left.
More colleges and universities are creating partnerships with institutions abroad. Goucher College, near Baltimore, now requires all incoming students to study abroad. SAART for Exchange / Students Abroad is a comprehensive investigative report specifically designed for your student. Call for more information. (Back to Top)

SAART for Families
We use scenario training as a learning tool for all members of your family. SAART for FSBO’s
A professional association of real estate professionals maintains some statistics of incidents which involve assaults upon their membership. Not so for those who attempt to sell their homes on their own. Without the pre-screening / pre- qualifying help of a real estate agent, For Sale By Owners are at extreme risk of assault, robbery and homicide. ECOPSS created SAART for FSBO’s after conducting an in depth study of crimes against these unprepared persons and their families; often times desperate to save a commission fee. (Back to Top)
SAART for Flight Crew
Pilots and Flight Attendants on commercial aircraft receive government required training for use on board the aircraft, only. SAART for Flight Crew addresses security issues of concern at home, at the crash pad, at the hotel, to and from the hotel van late at night and early mornings. Crew members visit countless cities in countless countries, in which they are easy targets for an array of common criminals and stalkers. Crew members “wing it” without any standard operating procedure for maintaining their personal safety and security. This class is presented in conjunction with local Law Enforcement Departments.
